CASTING CALL — MARGARET
POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive
by Selina Fillinger
OpenStage Theatre & Company in Fort Collins is seeking a non-union actor to play MARGARET in its upcoming production of POTUS, a fast, ferocious political farce about seven women trying to keep a presidential PR disaster from becoming a full-blown catastrophe.
MARGARET — BIPOC, Female Presenting, 40s–60s
The First Lady. Polished, composed, accomplished, and accustomed to being the most capable person in the room. Margaret projects impeccable control even as the world around her descends into absolute chaos. Beneath her public-facing elegance is a fiercely competitive, independent woman with a wonderfully unexpected streak.
The role requires exceptional comedic timing, strong physical comedy skills, and an actor who can play heightened farce with absolute commitment and truth. Margaret has some of the play’s biggest physical and comedic turns, so we are especially interested in performers who are fearless, inventive, and comfortable throwing themselves fully into the absurdity.
POTUS is an ensemble-driven, fast-paced comedy with strong language, sexual content, political satire, and adult humor.
