interACT Theatre Productions announces auditions for the East Coast pre-publication premiere of The Graveyard Girls, a new play by playwright Tommy Jamerson, directed by Nicholas J. Clarey. The production will be presented at The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood, New Jersey, with performances October 9–11, 16–18, and 23–24, 2026.

This production offers actors the opportunity to be among the first performers to bring Jamerson's newest work to life as the play continues its journey toward publication.

ABOUT THE PLAY

Every Halloween, best friends Lauree, Sydney, and Nancie have made a tradition of sneaking into an abandoned graveyard and attempting to outscare one another with a series of campfire tales packed with premium spookage. But when Nancie's love interest joins in on the fun, the girls' night is thrown out of sorts—and long-buried ghosts from the past begin to rise from the grave once more.

Briskly paced and highly theatrical, The Graveyard Girls is a haunting blend of heart, humor, friendship, and three unforgettable scary stories told in the dark. Equal parts eerie and playful, the play explores the ghosts we carry with us, the friendships that shape us, and the memories that refuse to stay buried.

SEEKING ACTORS

interACT Theatre Productions is seeking adult performers and a select number of teen performers for this production.

Because The Graveyard Girls is a new work, the production is embracing flexibility in how the ages of several characters are interpreted. Some of the central characters may be portrayed either as high school-aged young adults on the verge of major life changes or as young adults in their twenties, depending on casting.

While the title may suggest a youth production, The Graveyard Girls is not a children's show. The production is primarily seeking adult actors, while remaining open to a small number of talented teen performers who are right for specific roles.

The creative team is particularly interested in performers drawn to character-driven storytelling, heightened theatricality, dark humor, atmospheric storytelling, and emotionally rich relationships.
