OUT OF THE BLUE: ONE STARRY NIGHT - Touring Production
Casting Chinese national tour of Out of the Blue: One Starry Night. It is a family-friendly physical theatre show with magic (TYA) adapted from the original French production. It integrates physical theatre with art, magic, dance, and live music. Show duration is 70 minutes.
One Starry Night Chinese national tour is an international co-operation production. The creative team consists both Chinese and American theatre artists. It toured in China in 2019 for eight months and generated positive reviews.
Rehearsals from early March to March 26th, 2020 in China. Additional rehearsal from late Feburary to early March in NYC are also likely. Touring in China from mid-March to June 14th, 2020, with possible extension into early 2021.
Compensation:
Perforamnce: $800/week guaranteed during touring if the show runs 16 performances or less in one given month. $200/additional performance starting at the 17th performance that month.
Rehearsal: Pay TBD.
Per diem: $25.
Travel: Economy flights.
Accomodation: Single apartment (cleaned regularly) or hotel when applicable.
Note: At the time of signing contract the performer must have a valid passport w/ the expiration date no earlier than Spetember 15, 2021, or has Chinese citizenship or Chinese permenant residency.
Roles:
[Lena] Female. Performer needs to have the physical ability to play an 8-year-old girl. The real age of the performer might be 18-25 but is not specified. Physical theatre skills and/or training is required. Devising theatre skills/training a plus. Ability and interest to teach maters classes in physical theatre in China a plus. LEAD
[Guard/Grandpa] Male. Performer needs to have the physical ability to play an elderly grandpa and aguard at the gallery. Role requires quick transformation between characters. The real age of the performer might be 25-45 but is not specified. Physical theatre skills and/or training is required. Devising theatre skills/training a plus. Ability and interest to teach maters classes in physical theatre in China a plus. LEAD
Auditions:
Audition is on Dec 19, 2019 and callback is on Dec 20, 2019. Both are by appointment only, and in Manhattan, place TBD.
Please send an email to the casting director (Shaotian Cai, caishaotian@caishaotian.actor), asap with headshot and resume w/ conflicts for both days. And if you have, please send a link to your reel contains previous work (physical theatre a plus). Please also state your experiences and/or training with physical theatre, especially clown/Lecoq/theatre games, etc., and if not in your resmue, your experience with dance, improv, TYA, if any.
The audition will be a short group physical theatre exercise. Please wear clothes you feel comfortable to move in. Please Bring physical headshot/resume with you to the audition.
Note: If you have submitted through Backstage, Casting Networks, Actros Access, or directly to the casting director, you do not have to re-submit.
