I’m looking for actors for a series of scene presentations as part of my first-year MFA Directing work at Brooklyn College.

I’m interested in working with strong, curious actors who enjoy exploring psychologically complex material and a rigorous rehearsal process.

THE PLAYS

Phaedra’s Love by Sarah Kane
1 male actor, 20s–30s
1 female actor, 30s

The Stronger by August Strindberg
1 female actor, 20s

Miss Julie by August Strindberg
1 female actor, 20s–30s
1 male actor, 20s–30s

Scenes from a Marriage by Ingmar Bergman
1 male actor, 30s
1 female actor, 30s

A Moon for the Misbegotten by Eugene O'Neil
1 male actor, 30s
1 female actor, 30s

DATES / COMMITMENT

Scene presentations will take place at between 10m-1pm at Brooklyn College on:

Friday, October 2
Friday, October 9
Friday, October 23
Friday, November 20
Friday, December 4

I cannot yet confirm which scene will be presented on which date, so actors must be available for at least one of these presentation dates and should indicate all dates they are available.

Actors should also be available for a minimum of three rehearsals prior to their presentation. Rehearsal dates/times arranged per scene.

A NOTE ON INTIMACY

Several of these scenes involve romantic and/or sexual material, including kissing and physically intimate moments. Any intimacy will be discussed openly in advance and approached through a collaborative, consent-based rehearsal process. Actors should be comfortable engaging with this material as part of the work.

WHY PARTICIPATE?

Our directing faculty includes Meghan Finn, Artistic Director of The Tank, and student scene work has previously provided an opportunity for actors to be seen by working theatre artists and directors. This is intended to be a serious but low-pressure opportunity to make connections and do fun work.

Compensation: UNPAID

If interested, please send headshot/resumé and a brief note about yourself, along with:
