Casting for Jimmy Powers in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill. Jimmy Powers is Billie Holiday’s accompanist. He is a constant in Holiday’s life and is very caring and supportive towards her. He is able to think on his feet, as he improvises on the piano around Billie’s spontaneous performance decisions. When he notices Billie is becoming intoxicated, he assumes the role of a care-taker and tries to get her to rest and see a doctor backstage. Holiday mentions she and Jimmy will get married, but Jimmy doesn’t mention it himself. He’s a very stable and caring person and he wants to make sure both Billie and the performance are under control. Please submit a headshot and resume to cidermillstage@gmail.com for consideration.
