Algonquin Arts Theater is excited to announce that they are now accepting video submissions for the roles of Lola and the Angels, in their 2023 production of Kinky Boots. At this time, submissions are for THESE ROLES ONLY in order to ensure enough lead time to obtain proper footwear and ability to move/dance in heels. Rehearsals FOR THESE ROLES will begin after the first of the year, one to two times a week based on availability of the actors.

Full cast rehearsals starting the week of February 5th.

Information regarding submissions for ALL OTHER ROLES will be announced at a later date.

LOLA/SIMON (Trans Male 35-40; Tenor C3-B4); an emotionally and physically challenging role that requires the soul of a Diva, a la Whitney Houston; has a star presence and feels comfortable wearing everything from full glamour as a scene-stealing drag performer to nothing but boxing trunks; has a killer voice with power blues and gospel chops; strong comedic actor. Written for a non-caucasian actor (generally African heritage) male.

THE ANGELS (Males, 20s-30s, any ethnicities); Looking for 4-6 actors to play drag performers who populate THE BLUE ANGEL NIGHTCLUB. Must be versatile and terrific singers (Contemporary pop/rock/R&B belt) and dancers (required to dance in heels). Tumbling, acrobatics, and tricks a plus. Two to three Angels sing to C?5 and two to three sing to A4.
