Monmouth Community Players to hold auditions for “Clue, The Musical”


Auditions for “Clue, The Musical,” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday September 6th and Wednesday September 7th at Winthrop Congregational Church, 10 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, ME 04364.. All those who audition must be vaccinated with a booster in order to be considered for casting. Please bring vaccination cards to auditions for verification.


Please bring sheet music and come prepared to sing 16 bars of a Broadway-type song along with a quick range check. An accompanist will be provided. Be prepared to read a short monologue which will be available for each character. Audition will also include a short dance combo and cold reading.


Rehearsals will be from 6-8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Some rehearsals will be flexible based upon actor availability. Final rehearsal schedule will be available at the read-through. Please be sure to list any conflicts between now and the show on your audition form.


“Clue” will be directed by Josie French. Performances will be at the Great Falls Performing Arts Center in Auburn, November 11 through November 20 at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, one Saturday show at 2 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Show description:


The popular game is now a fun-filled musical which brings the world’s best known suspects to life and invites the audience to help solve the mystery. The audience will help deduce the solution from clues given throughout the fun-filled evening. Audience members choose from cards representing the potential murderers, weapons and rooms; there are 216 possible solutions. Comic antics, witty lyrics and beguiling music carry the investigation from room to room.


Character descriptions:


Mr. Boddy, male (will consider female), charismatic, handsome, playful host; soaring baritone/tenor;


Mrs. Peacock, seasoned female, acerbic, manipulative, sexy socialite; mezzo with belt;


Professor Plum, male, astute intellectual with a wry sense of humor; baritone; *Must have dancing skills


Miss Scarlet, younger female, shrewd, very attractive vixen; wide vocal range with belt;


Colonel Mustard, seasoned male, pompous, amorous military man; baritone;


Mrs. White, male (will consider female), fun-loving cockney maid, portrayed by a man; wide vocal range;


Mr. Green, younger male, slick, handsome wheeler-dealer (think used car salesman); baritone/tenor;


Detective, female (will consider male), hard-nosed, snappy, humorous female; interesting singing voice.*must have dancing skills


4 crew members - one in each vocal part to be stage crew and understudy each vocal part in the show.
