Dreamers HTX is seeking a compelling performer for the title role of Anarkali in Anarkali Reimagined, returning to Houston following a sold-out 2025 run.

Anarkali is a substantial leading role requiring strong dramatic instincts, emotional range, stage presence, discipline, and the ability to handle significant dialogue and blocking on an accelerated rehearsal schedule.

The character is intelligent, witty, romantic, vulnerable, passionate, and ultimately defiant. The performer must be able to move convincingly between intimate scenes, humor, romance, and high-stakes confrontation.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong acting instincts and emotional range

• Excellent line retention and ability to memorize substantial dialogue quickly

• Strong stage presence

• Strong chemistry and responsiveness with scene partners

• Grace, musicality, and comfort with choreographed movement

• Reliability and strong rehearsal availability

• Ability to learn blocking, dialogue, and character work quickly

Dance training is a plus, but not required. Kathak, South Asian classical dance, musical theatre, or other movement training is especially welcome. Choreography can be adapted to the strengths of the selected performer.

First-time stage actors are welcome to audition. The rehearsal process includes acting and character development, but candidates must demonstrate strong instincts, commitment, discipline, and the capacity to take direction.

IMPORTANT

This is a fast-moving, rolling casting process. Submissions will be reviewed as they are received, and the role will be cast as soon as the right performer is found. There may not be a final audition deadline.

Because rehearsals have already begun, the selected performer must be available to start immediately and be prepared to learn the role on an accelerated schedule.
