A-Bridge-d History of Staten Island – A Madcap (mostly) Musical Comedy that Answers All the Questions You Never Asked - Sundog Theatre

Sundog Theatre is auditioning for “A-Bridge-d History of Staten Island – A Madcap (mostly) Musical Comedy that Answers All the Questions You Never Asked” - a light-hearted yet reverent look at the history of New York City's lesser-known borough.

Specific races not required for any role, but a diverse cast would tell the story best. Ages: 21+ Each actor will portray numerous characters from various time periods throughout the play. All actors need to be able to sing, move well, and have experience with improvisation and physical comedy. In addition to singing, you may be asked to cold read and engage in improvisation exercises.

SPEAKER – Male. Main narrator, the audience surrogate. Tends to be the aristocrat, the voice of authority, often triggering conflict but not taking part. Plays a number of roles.

SPLITTER - Comic relief, often confused and/or naive. Continuously advocates for Staten Island to secede, hence the name. Plays a number of roles.

SHUTTER – Female. Different from the rest, she tends to stand out, often shutting people up or shutting conversations down. Plays a number of roles.

SOLDIER - Male. Tends to play the common man, the foot soldier. He is often the voice of reason, questioning authority, but is seldom heeded. Plays a number of roles.

SETTLER 1 – Male. Clown-type who aids in all physical comedy and transitions of characters. Good comedic timing a must. Plays a number of roles. Understudy for 2 roles.
