Bats Theatre Stages MO & JESS KILL SUSIE, 1/7-1/23
Bats Theatre will present 'Mo & Jess Kill Susie', a tense, claustrophobic hostage drama which returns to BATS where it premiered in 1996. The play won Gary Henderson the Best New Short Play at the Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards that same year. The show will run from January 7 to 23.
Two armed Maori women, one calm and resolute, the other restless and volatile, wait with their bound, gagged and unconscious captive, in an empty building. The hostage is the trump card in a tense face-off down on the waterfront, between Maori protesters and police. The Women are waiting for a phone call... instructions on how to deal with their victim. The night tightens around them, claustrophobia closes in, time runs out, the call doesn't come...
'Mo & Jess Kill Susie' is directed by Murray Lynch. Sound and lights by Thomas Press.'Mo & Jess Kill Susie' runs from Thursday, January 7, to Saturday, January 23, at 8.30PM?. Tickets are $20 full / $14 Concession.
