The NOLA Project Spills A TRUCKLOAD OF INK, Now thru 9/21
By: BWW News Desk
The NOLA Project theatre company is opening its 2013-2014 season with a bold new play about the sudden upheaval at the city's most established newspaper. Set in the busiest newsroom on the unexpected eve of the most massive change to hit New Orleans newspapers, "A Truckload of Ink" vividly brings to life the human relationships, history, politics, back-room deals, and righteous fight to save a cultural institution from an out-of-state corporate dismantlement. New Orleans' most gifted playwright, Jim Fitzmorris, pens the timely tale inspired by real events.
"The second that the announcement about the real paper came last year, I got on the phone and called Jim Fitzmorris" says NOLA Project Artistic Director A.J. Allegra. "Between the sudden and unexpected pronouncement, the layoffs, the bar tabs paid by other paper staffs, and every other on or off-the-record story, the theatre-maker in me yearned to tell this story. And to combine Jim's words with our incredible ensemble of gifted actors is a dream come true. We have been waiting for a moment like this."
