The 2013-2014 theatre season has ended, and summer is upon us. But, don't let that get you down because New Orleans is rich with opportunities to experience live theatre all year 'round! From Shakespeare to musicals to Tony award winning plays, there's something for everyone. Here are just a few of the events that you may want to check out:

New Orleans Shakespeare Festival

The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival is hosted every summer at Tulane University. The festival offers a variety of Shakespeare written and related productions, and every now and again holds post-show talk backs with cast, crew, and experts. This summer's festival includes, but is not limited to:

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, June 14 - July 12

THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED), June 22 - July 19

Summer Lyric Theatre

Summer Lyric Theatre, also hosted at Tulane University, is a main hub for musical theatre in New Orleans' summer months. Working in conjunction with the university and members of the community, Summer Lyric Theatre presents quality musical theatre pieces that include both paid and volunteer cast and crew members. The Summer 2014 lineup is as follows:

A CHORUS LINE, July 10 - July 13

CABARET, July 31 - August 3

Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre

In the heart of the New Orleans French Quarter, just off of Jackson Square is the quaint Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre. It is the perfect place to wind down with a drink after a long day exploring the city. This summer, Le Petit ends its 2013-2014 season and begins its 2014-2015 season with:
