Southern Rep's Acting Company to Present EVERYBODY
Southern Rep Theatre today announced that The Acting Company, Southern Rep's selected group of exceptionally talented local performers who collaborate and create with the organization annually, will present a production of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' EVERYBODY. A smash hit Off-Broadway in 2017, the production will be directed by Southern Rep's newly appointed Associate Artistic Director, Helen Jaksch, and will play a limited engagement, November 7 - 17, 2018 at Southern Rep's new permanent home located at 2541 Bayou Road, New Orleans.
The Acting Company's production of EVERYBODY is just one of many community-based events that Southern Rep plans for 2018-19, with additional events to be announced soon. Furthermore, with Southern Rep's new permanent location housed in the 13,000 square foot former St. Rose de Lima church building, the theatre plans to serve as a beacon for the arts, culture and community in New Orleans, providing new and expanded programming outside the theatre's Mainstage Season.
"Since Southern Rep has been without its own theatre since 2012, we know it's been difficult to grasp the totality of all we do," said Producing Artistic Director Aimée Hayes. "Now that we have a central location, we're excited to invite our community to enjoy even more additional programming. With Care for Creatives, our Radical Solutions Conversations, the YONOLA afterschool programs and much more, Southern Rep's doors are now wide open, and we're humbled and grateful for the opportunity to steward this historic building, offering it back to the people of New Orleans in new and joyous ways."
To that end, Hayes has designed programming that emphasizes Southern Rep's commitment to highlighting diverse contemporary voices and showcasing Louisiana artists.
