Rivertown Theaters To Offer Two Summer Musical Theater Camps for the Younger Set

Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts will continue their commitment to providing opportunities to showcase and develop the talents of budding local thespians with summer camps and performances by the participants in Shrek Jr. The Musical and The Wizard of Oz, their two Youth Summer Musical Theater Camp productions.

Shrek Jr. The Musical

Calling all boys & girls entering 5th grade and up... Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre Shrek leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. With a host of over-the-top roles, there's a part for everyone in this dazzling adventure story. Following our sold-out, adult Main Stage production of Shrek last season, campers will enjoy performing with our professional, in-stock Shrek set pieces, costumes and props. Our summer production staff is comprised of university trained theater professionals. Attend both Shrek & Wizard of Oz camps and receive a $25 discount.

This summer, campers will "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" "Over the Rainbow" and meet the Wizard, in the stage adaptation of the most beloved movie musicals of all time. All your favorite characters and songs! Campers will perform on the Main Stage with the actual set that will be used for the adult production of The Wizard of Oz! This production will include professional flying and special effects! Our summer production staff is comprised of university trained theater professionals.
