Le Petit Theatre's HAIR Director Troy Poplous to Shave Head for St. Baldrick's Foundation, Today

By:

Troy Poplous, director of rock musical 'HAIR' at Le Petit Theatre, will get a whole new look at Friday's performance when he shaves his head for pediatric cancer research. Poplous is participating in a Le Petit fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation to benefit childhood cancer research. Local St. Baldrick's voluneers from the Tulane School of Medicine and Finn McCool's Irish Pub are assisting the theatre with its first St. Baldrick's fundraiser.

A barber will shave the director's head during intermission on Friday, Nov. 22 about 9 p.m. The performance starts at 8 p.m. The shaving will take place in the theatre's courtyard.

An event page has been created: http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/10898/2013 to collect pledges for the fundraiser effort which began when the show opened on Nov. 8. This page is also accessible from the theatre's website: www.lepetittheatre.com Between donations collected at performances and online, Le Petit Theatre has raised $1,900 for St. Baldrick's so far.

A cast of 25 actors and six piece orchestra will wrap up a successful run of 'HAIR' on Saturday night. There are some tickets left but they are going fast. They may be purchased online at www.lepetittheatre.com, at the box office between the hours of 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Wed-Fri and 11am - 6 p.m. on Saturdays or by calling 504-522-2081.
