Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel to Host Downtown Development District's Canal Street Lighting, 11/26
Come Join the Fun at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel for Downtown Development District's Canal Street Lighting on Tuesday November 26, 2013 at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel from 5-7 PM.
On Tuesday, November 26, families are invited to watch as the Downtown Development District and the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel "flip the switch," from the hotel's balcony, turning on more than 1 million twinkling lights on Canal Street, New Orleans' grand corridor. The Franklin Avenue Baptist Church Choir will entertain the crowd gathered for the lighting.
The public is invited to stop by the Astor's St. Charles Ballroom just off the lobby from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and decorate your own holiday cookie while enjoying complimentary hot cocoa or apple cider. Santa will be there from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm after the Lighting Ceremony to hear your wish list for the holidays. A Sugar Plum Fairy will greet everyone and a strolling puppeteer from "Port-a-Puppet Players" will entertain kids young and old! Bring an unwrapped, new toy and receive a free photo with Santa! Toys donated will benefit the children of the women served by Dress for Success New Orleans.
