The Thurnauer Chamber Music Society, the ensemble in residence at the JCC Thurnauer School of Music since 1992, will open its 19th season with The Viennese Tradition: Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Fritz Kreisler's Death. The performance will take place Saturday, December 17 at 8 p.m. in the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades' (411 East Clinton Avenue) Eric Brown Theater.

Repertoire will include works by Johann Strauss, Schubert, Kreisler, and Brahms. A complete listing is below. The concert will be preceded by a "meet-the-artists" conversation at 7 p.m.

Tickets ($16 JCC members, $20 non-members) may be purchased by calling 201.408.1465 or e-mailing thurnauer@jccotp.org. Subscriptions for the ensemble's three-concert season (also including concerts on February 4 and 25, 2012) may be purchased as well. ($40 JCC members, $50 non-members)

About the Thurnauer Chamber Music Society

Since 1992, the artist-members of the Thurnauer Chamber Music Society (TCMS) have presented stimulating and provocative performances representing a wide range of eras, styles, and instrumentation. Each concert is preceded by an informal and entertaining discussion/demonstration of the evening's program and is followed by a friendly "meet-the-artists" reception.

Members of the TCMS have performed with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center; Musicians from Marlboro; New York Philomusica; North-South Consonance; Dorian Quartet; and the American Chamber Players. They have performed, collectively, at the Aspen, Mostly Mozart, Marlboro, New England Bach, Norfolk, Caramoor, Spoleto, and San Juan Islands festivals. They have appeared as soloists and as members of orchestras throughout the world, and have recorded for the RCA, Columbia, Sony, Koch International, Elektra, and CRI labels.

About the JCC Thurnauer School of Music

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, New Jersey's leading community music school, has been designated a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Open to everyone with a desire to learn music, it offers a comprehensive program of private lessons for students of all ages on every instrument and voice, plus musicianship classes and orchestral, choral, jazz, and chamber ensembles. Concert and master class artists have included Pinchas Zukerman, Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Bell, Yefim Bronfman, Paquito D'Rivera, Mark O'Connor, Alan Gilbert and musicians from the New York Philharmonic, and many more. Recipient of a special award for "excellence and high standards" from The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the JCC Thurnauer School of Music is a member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education. It is part of the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, a non-profit organization serving more than 20,000 people annually from Bergen County and beyond.
