On March 23 and 24, 68 Productions will present Summer Dawn Hortillosa's "Before, After and Always," a one-act play for two actors divided into three parts. The romantic comedy will be
part of STAGEfest at the Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre in Journal Square. It will be staged in an unconventional performance space, the upstairs left lobby of the historic movie palace.

The heartwarming play explores three relationship stages ("Before," "After," and "Always") in three short scenes, two of which were inspired by original short stories by Hortillosa. "Be Longing," the finale, was written especially for the show.

These are the scenes. Click on the names to see the short story they were based on:

Good bye (Before): Two near-strangers loosely linked by four mutual friends share a magical moment as they bid each other good-bye, changing their lives forever. Long Lost Love Song (After): A man's dreams of his past lover leave him hot, cold and confused. Does love take work or does it just happen?

Be Longing (Always): A man and a woman can't get over how good their burned-out relationship actually was. During a chance encounter, they must decide what to do with their love.

The play stars Hortillosa and Sergio Caetano. Hortillosa will direct with help from assistant director Liliane Wolf.

Hortillosa is a longtime Jersey City resident, one of the first Art House Productions Emerging Artists and a winner of the 2007 New Jersey Young Playwrights Festival, Governor's Award in Arts Education and Permanent Career Award in Literature from the National Society of Arts
and Letters-NJ. Last year, the 22-year-old founded 68 Productions. Their first production, dramatic play "Secrets; Love," had a successful run at the Monroe Center in Hoboken and was part of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival in SoHo. Her one-woman show
"Kookspeak" was the top-seller at the 2012 So Low Theater Festival in Jersey City and recently opened for master poet Reg E. Gaines's solo show "The Last Celebrity" in February. She is also a Hudson County arts and entertainment journalist who also previously covered Hoboken news and art. For more information, visit http://www.summerization.com.
