Go on a high-energy celebration of Indian pop music and Bollywood culture at Taj Express, coming to Mayo Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $29 - $59.

Taj Express explodes with the sounds of India and Bollywood, capturing the vibrant, expressive spirit of the world of Bollywood movies that have been entertaining billions of people in India for generations. Through a fusion of film, dance, and music, this dazzling international sensation takes audiences on a live cinematic journey through modern Indian culture and society. The production is a high energy celebration of new India's pop music, Bollywood culture, and deep traditions featuring colorful costumes, joyful dance, and thrilling live music.

Ms. Vaibhavi Merchant (Director of Choreography) has been the Director of Choreography for over 75 Bollywood films and is known for her smash hits such as Dhol Baaje, Jhoom Barabar, Kajra Re, Kamli, and Dhoom3. She has received numerous awards for her choreography, including the prestigious National Award for Choreography, IIFA, and the American Choreography Award. Shruti Merchant, (Director/Producer) is also amongst the top choreographers in the industry. Last year she was a judge on India's leading dance reality show "Dance India Dance Season 4" and is serving as a judge on the show again in 2015. More information can be found on www.shrutimerchant.in.

Mayo Performing Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, presents a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich, and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of Northern New Jersey. The 2016-2017 season is made possible, in part, by a grant the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as support received from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, F.M. Kirby Foundation and numerous corporations, foundations and individuals. The Mayo Performing Arts Center has been designated a Major Presenting Organization by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Mayo Performing Arts Center has been named 2016 Outstanding Historic Theatre by the League of Historic American Theatres.
