Shakespeare Meets Homer Simpson In MACHOMER At at McCarter Theatre 4/30
By: Gabrielle Sierra
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Simpsons, McCarter Theatre will present the international smash hit MacHomer on Friday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. Rick Miller's side-splitting, inspiring one-man Macbeth transplants Shakespeare to Springfield, home of America's favorite dysfunctional family, The Simpsons. With Homer in the lead and Marge as Lady MacHomer, Miller recreates the voices of more than 50 "Simpsons" characters from the iconic TV series.
Rick Miller is one of Canada's most respected multi-disciplinary performers. His spot-on impressions of characters from the hit series hilariously populate this imaginatively staged version of the tragedy, a multi-media update truly "full of sound and fury." The result is that rare jewel: an educational and entertaining show, which has amazed audiences of all ages, backgrounds and languages. With a script that remains 85% Shakespeare, MacHomer will leave you "exhausted with laughter" (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). Rick Miller has performed MacHomer to capacity crowds across the U.S. and Canada. The show has toured the world to rave reviews in Scotland, England, Australia, and New Zealand. Tickets start at $30 ($12 for students) and are available by calling (609) 258-2787; visiting online at www.mccarter.org; or in person at 91 University Place, Princeton.
