Roxey Ballet Chosen To Receive Funds From Annual Dannenfelser Charity Golf Outing

By: Jun. 29, 2018

Pete Dannenfelser has run an annual golf tournament for more than a dozen years. What started out as a handful of golf buddies competing for bragging rights has evolved into an event that has donated thousands of dollars to different charities over the past several years. Pete and his sponsors have used this event to support children's cancer care and local community members fighting the hardship brought on by treating aggressive diseases. In 2018, the Dannenfelser Invitational will be maintaining a commitment to improving the lives of children in the community by selecting the ROXEY BALLET company, www.roxeyballet.org as this year's donation recipient.

"I wanted to continue to use the Dannenfelser Invitational raise funds to enhance the lives of children in need. Drawing on the relationship I've built with organizations throughout the past several events, I am committed to using this charity outing year in and year out to continue that mission," said Pete Dannenfelser.

The ROXEY BALLET is a non-profit, world-class, all-inclusive contemporary ballet company made up of professionals and children aged 4 to 18 and has been performing for the last 25 years. What makes ROXEY BALLET unique is their commitment supporting the community through movement, to positively influence children who may not otherwise have a chance to express themselves. >From youth challenged by a lack of financial and developmental resources in central NJ, to individuals with physical disabilities, and anti-bullying campaigns, ROXEY BALLET is renowned for not only their annual repertoire of world-class performances but also for their unparalleled dedication to making sure the arts are accessible to everyone.

"We are excited to be working with Pete and his annual event. We are delighted that they recognize the tremendous impact Roxey Ballet has on our communities. We thank them for their support of thousands of children in the form of our Educational Assemblies and programming, "said Mark Roxey, founder of The Roxey Ballet.

Funds collected at this year's Dannenfelser Invitational will be put toward:

· Wheels & Bodies in Motion, a program that provides an environment where dancers with and without disabilities work collaboratively to dance, exercise and create original choreography

· Engaging school students through the Dance to Learn residency and through Celebrating Diversity, an award-winning anti-bullying assembly that is done on-site in schools throughout the area

· World-class, time-honored productions such as The Nutcracker that entertain thousands, seamlessly blending international professional dancers with area children in an amazing learning experience and thrilling performances

· Ensure the beauty of their productions are accessible to all, offering Sensory-Friendly performances for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other sensitivity issues or special needs

· Use the arts to heal and inspire, through productions such as their recent premier of The C- Word: Stories of Surviving, which celebrates the lives of breast cancer survivors in partnership with The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, D&R Greenway, Grounds for Sculpture, and the Breast Cancer Resource Center

· Attract a diversity of professional dancers to perform locally, introducing area residents to such talent without having to travel to the city

Roxey Ballet's programs are made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, Merck Foundation, Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission, and individuals and businesses.
