Tickets are now on sale for the NJ premiere of Respect, A Musical Journey of Women which runs from December 27 to January 6 at the Forum Theatre Arts Center in Metuchen.

Directed Peter J. Loewy, the new production details the journey of women told through Top-40 music. Combining excerpts of 60 songs including "Someone to Watch Over Me," "I Will Survive," "I Will Follow Him," "These Boots are Made for Walking," "What's Love Got to Do with it," and "Hero" with women's own stories about finding dreams, lost love, relationship issues, entering the workforce, gaining independence, and more.

Woman's voice in popular music shifted during the twentieth century from one of neediness and dependency to "I am woman, hear me roar" and "I will survive." Top-40 music began encouraging women to looked for the heroes within themselves, to get on their feet and make things happen, and to stand on their own with or without a man. Respect, A Musical Journey of Women celebrates women and the music that encouraged them to find their own dreams.

Respect, A Musical Journey of Women plays Thursday-Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM from December 27, 2012 to January 6, 2013 with a special New Year's Eve performance at 8 PM. All seats are $35 and available online (without service charges) at www.forumtheatrearts.org and by phone at 732-548-5600. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
