Phyllis Blanford and Friends hit Trumpets Jazz Club this September
By: Rebecca Russo

"Molasses-toned" and "soulful" Phyllis Blanford, whose acclaimed debut album Edgewalker was the talk of the town last year, will take to Trumpets Jazz Club's historic stage on September 21st for an evening of jazz. Blanford will be joined by an array of acclaimed musicians, featuring Lou Rainone on piano, Calvin X. Jones on Bass, Norman Mann on Percussion, Noel Sagerman on Drums and James Stewart on Sax and Flute.
Blanford's debut was called "a revelation" and a "a true masterpiece" by critics. The celebrated jazz singer has performed at Feinstein's/54 Below, The Triad, The Priory Jazz Club and abroad in Italy and beyond. Edgewalker is available on iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon.com and more.
Located at 5 Depot Square in Montclair, New Jersey, Trumpets first opened in 1985 and it soon became the best Jazz venue in the state of NJ. The best musicians in the world performed at Trumpets: Gato Barbieri, Wynton Marsalis, and Dave Valentin, to name a few. In October 1999, the club was acquired by Enrico Granafei and Kristine Massari. A musician himself, Enrico used to perform at Trumpets years ago. The Italian harmonica player, guitarist and composer is determined to maintain the tradition of this legendary Jazz club. There is a $10 music charge, and a required food or beverage purchase for entry. For reservations and to learn more, visit www.trumpetsjazz.com.
