Paper Mill Playhouse Collecting Extra Coats, Halloween Candy for Distribution; Opens Free Charging Station
Paper Mill Playhouse is proud to partner with Jersey Cares as a collection site for their winter coat drive. New and gently used coats can be brought during the run of Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of The Sound of Music now through December 30th. Furthermore, area residents are encouraged to drop off their undistributed Halloween candy to the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office now until Friday, November 16th. All candy collected will be sent to troops serving our country. The Paper Mill Playhouse Lobby is now open to area residents, noon until 5:00pm, seven-days-a-week to charge electronic devices. Free, hot coffee is available during these hours.
Over the past seventeen years, Jersey Cares has collected, sorted and distributed thousands of winter coats to New Jersey residents in need through this program. The donated winter coats benefit at-risk men, women, children, and infants in the area. Last season Paper Mill Playhouse patrons contributed over 400 coats to this worthy cause. Coats can be dropped off in the baskets inside the theater’s lobby at 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, NJ.
Paper Mill Playhouse has partnered with Soldier’s Angels, a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families. Area residents are encouraged to drop off their undistributed Halloween candy in the marked containers in the theater’s lobby.
“We are happy to use our theater as a drop off point for undistributed Halloween candy,” remarked Todd Schmidt, Paper Mill Playhouse Managing Director. “All candy collected will be sent to our troops and their families. We know so many New Jersey residents are facing hardships of their own following Hurricane Sandy, but without the help of our military and National Guard, New Jersey’s recovery would take much longer.”
Collections continue throughout the run of The Sound of Music from November 23 to December 30. Leading the cast are Ben Davis as Captain Georg von Trapp, Elena Shaddow as Maria von Trapp, Edward Hibbert as Max, Donna English as Elsa Schraeder Chelsea Morgan Stock as Liesl and American Idol finalist Anthony Fedorov as Rolf.
The Sound of Music will be performed eight times a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Please visit the Paper Mill Playhouse website (www.papermill.org) or call the box office (973-376-4343) for special holiday schedules. Single tickets are on sale now and range from $26 to $97.
