Norm Lewis and Rebecca Luker Bring 'SWINGING ON A STAR' to NJPAC Tonight
New Jersey Performance Arts Center (NJPAC) announces the all the magical, timeless hits by Sinatra songwriter Jimmy Van Heusen -- "My Kind of Town," "All the Way," "Call Me Irresponsible" -- performed by Broadway royalty: Tony nominees Norm Lewis (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess) and Rebecca Luker (Mary Poppins, The Music Man) tonight, April 25th at 8PM. Music director Rob Fisher leads this rare tribute to the Oscar-winning composer, whose melodies were immortalized by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and so many other legendary artists. Teamed with lyricist Sammy Cahn, Van Heusen produced the smashes "High Hopes," "Love and Marriage," "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "Come Fly with Me."Norm Lewis (Sen. Edison Davis on ABC-TV's Scandal) recently received nominations for the Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle awards for his lead role in The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess. He has appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables, The Little Mermaid, Sondheim on Sondheim, Chicago and Miss Saigon, and as New York's first African-American Phantom of the Opera.Triple Tony nominee Rebecca Luker's Broadway credits also include Cinderella,The Sound of Music, Show Boat, The Secret Garden and The Phantom of the Opera. She was featured in Broadway's Nine opposite Antonio Banderas and has performed before sold-out audiences in concert and opera halls throughout the country. She recently starred in the world premiere of the musical Little Dancer at the Kennedy Center.
