New Jersey Symphony Presents JACQUES AND THE DIVAS, 2/12

By:

On Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 8:00 PM, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will celebrate Valentine's weekend with three of Broadway's hottest leading ladies - Debbie Gravitte, Jan Horvath and Christiane Noll - under the baton of NJSO Music Director Jacques Lacombe. In this scintillating evening concert, taking place at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, the artists will scale musical-theater heights with timeless classics from Gypsy, Funny Girl, Wicked, Evita, My Fair Lady and Candide.

All three stars have performed in some of musical theater's most unforgettable shows; Gravitte won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in Jerome Robbins' Broadway, and also counts Chicago and Les Miserables among her many credits. Horvath was a member of the original Broadway company of The Phantom of the Opera, in which she sang the roles of Christine and Carlotta; she also has performed "Three Penny Opera" with Sting, and has appeared in Stardust, Oliver! and the National Tour of Cats, among others. Christiane Noll received both Tony and Drama Desk nominations, as well as a Helen Hayes Award, for her recent portrayal of Mother in the Broadway revival of Ragtime. Noll made her Broadway debut in Jekyll and Hyde creating the role of Emma, and subsequently starred in It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and the National Tour of Urinetown.
