Mill Ballet School Begins BRING A FRIEND Week, 11/1-11/7

By:

The Mill Ballet School, Hunterdon County's Favorite Dance School, opens its doors to the community from November 1-November 7 for "Bring a Friend to Dance Week". Dance enthusiasts, students, and adults of all ages and levels are invited to take a free trial class.

Mill Ballet has opened its doors before during National Dance Week in the Spring, and from its overwhelming success, have also included the event in the fall program for the first time ever. During "Bring a Friend to Dance Week", students are able to share their love of dance with a friend while exposing them to the art and magic of dance, and community members with little or no experience have the opportunity to try dance for the first time.

In addition to Ballet, Contemporary, Tap, Hip Hop, and Jazz, two new course offerings announced this season will allow Mill Ballet School to expand its outreach. "Flamenco for All" is one of these courses, taught by Lisa Botalico. Students will have fun while learning percussive footwork and intricate hand, arm, and body movements. "Acrobatics", taught by Lester Holt, is another new opportunity that fuses acrobatic movements and elements into classical dance styles. Those attending will have the ability to experience these courses alongside Mill Ballet students.

Mill Ballet prides itself as a unique dance institution in the area. Instead of focusing on an end product like a recital or competition, The Mill Ballet School's mission is to focus on the individual, the process of learning, and the accessibility of ballet.

"As a dance educator for over 23 years it is always exciting when I have the chance to expose others to dance that perhaps might not have the opportunity otherwise. Since dance is not made available to all via our education system, it is my hope we can reach many through opening our doors to all for free classes," says Melissa Roxey, director of Mill Ballet. "Since 1996 we have made it possible for every student wanting to study dance a reality through work and merit scholarships."

Attendance for the "Bring a Friend to Dance Week" trial class is free and open to the community. This season's course schedule and registration information are available at www.MillBalletSchool.com.
