The 2015 summer season at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre begins with a musical comedy that's so much fun it shouldn't be legal! Legally Blonde the Musical is set for a two weekend run at the outdoor venue from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, June 7. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm.

Based on the hit movie, Legally Blonde the Musical is two hours of fun wrapped up in a smart pink bow! Elle Woods is the college sweetheart and homecoming queen who doesn't take no for an answer. When her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone "serious," Elle puts down her credit cards, hits the books and heads for Harvard Law School. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. The musical's score includes such high energy numbers as "Serious," "What You Want," and "Whipped Into Shape." Music and lyrics are by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book is by Heather Hach.

Starring as Elle Woods is Jill Palena. Open Air audiences know Jill from the numerous leads she has played over the theater's past 5 seasons. Jill starred as Roxie Hart in Chicago, Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Anita in West Side Story to name just a few. Direction and choreography for Legally Blonde the Musical is by Open Air Theatre artistic directors Louis Palena and Jordan Brennan. Musical direction is by Mike Nappi.

The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre production of Legally Blonde the Musical will be performed on Friday, May 29, Saturday May 30 and Sunday, May 31 at 7:30 pm. The musical returns a second weekend of performances on June 5, 6, 7 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children (ages 12 and under) and $12 for seniors (ages 65 and older.) Tickets can always be purchased at the Open Air Theatre Box Office a half-hour prior to the performance. Group discounts are available.
