Casting has been announced for the final production of George Street Playhouse's 2009-2010 season. Sex and the City's Lynn Cohen, Broadway veterans Michael Countryman and Celia Keenan-Bolger join the previously-announced Sandy Duncan in the world premiere production of Creating Claire by Joe DiPietro. GSP Artistic Director David Saint will helm this new work by the author of the long-running off-Broadway hits I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and The Toxic Avenger as well as the current Broadway sensation Memphis. The production trods the boards in New Brunswick beginning May 11 and runs through June 6, with opening night set for Friday, May 14.
"This is a quintessential George Street play," says Mr. Saint. "It concerns itself with issues of faith, how it collides with the scientific world, and its ramifications within a person's close relationships. It touches the heart and mind, and that is what I look for when choosing a play. In addition I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with such an amazingly talented cast."
Tickets, priced $29.50 - $71.50 are available through the George Street Playhouse Box Office, 732-246-7717. Tickets may also be purchased online at the Playhouse's website www.GSPonline.org. Groups of ten or more are entitled to a discount - for further information on group tickets, call 732-846-2895, ext. 134. George Street Playhouse is located at 9 Livingston Avenue in the heart of New Brunswick's dining and entertainment district.
Employed as a docent at a Natural History Museum, Claire comes under fire when her tour guide patter deviates from the strict scientific beliefs of her formidable supervisor and heads down a more spiritual path. A self-described agnostic, her burgeoning spirituality impacts not only her job and her relationship with her rigidly scientific supervisor, but her atheist husband and 16-year-old autistic daughter as well.
