Garden State Film Festival Comes to Cherry Hill

By:

After moving to Atlantic City from Asbury Park in 2014, the Garden State Film Festival is conducting outreach into the Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia region to build a robust local audience for its 2015 event. It will partner with Cherry Hill Township and the Cherry Hill Arts Board to present a "mini-fest" of some of the most critically and commercially acclaimed short films presented at the festival in recent years. The event will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Croft Farm Arts Center located at 100 Bortons Mill Road in Cherry Hill.

Slated for presentation are "Admissions," starring Academy Award nominee James Cromwell, set in Heavens waiting room it hypothesizes on the possibility of a lasting peace, through the intersecting lives of an Israeli couple and a Palestinian man. Irish film, "The Wednesdays," is an ironic and touching tale of how an elderly couple keep things young. Princeton native Bebe Neuwirth makes her directorial debut with "Jerome's Bouquet," a day in the life look at a meddling, and manipulative widow who tries to control her late husband's flower shop, her daughter, and everyone she comes in contact with. "Un Peu Plus," with glorious cinematography shot on location in Paris, follows Mme. Rousseau who spends a perfect day sampling the delicious confections of the city's finest patisseries. Japanese film, "Miyuki's Wind Bells" is the journey of a young girl forced to leave her home in Tokyo, and bring her two young half-brothers to the country home of their quirky grandmother. "Death Taxes and Apple Juice," is a hilarious look at the complex lives of adults as perceived by children.

"We are so delighted to be partnering with Croft Farm Arts Center on this event," says Diane Raver, Executive Director and Founder of the film festival. This partnership event takes place during the popular two-week series of events at the Croft Farm Arts Center known as Fall Into the Arts. The centerpiece event of Fall Into the Arts is a juried photography show which will be available for viewing before and after the film festival event. "The array of shorts we've selected are unique, diverse, and represent what the Garden State Film Festival is all about. We share stories from around the world, across the country, and our own backyard that deliver diverse points of view, on many subject matters. Shorts, in particular are special, as they are made by people more passionate about their craft than any financial reward. We hope that this presentation piques the interest of the greater Cherry Hill community in GSFF and many folks will join us for our 13th Annual event in Atlantic City, March 19-22, 2015."

For more information about the films visit, www.gsff.org. The ticket price is $10, available for purchase at the door. To contact Cherry Hill Township call 856-488-7868or email Events@CHTownship.com.
