Cape May Stage Presents DANGER: STAY AWAY! Readings Series, Now thru 11/20

By:

Caution: This is not for the faint of heart. Throughout the remainder of October and November, Cape May Stage continues with Danger: Stay Away!, a series of staged readings meant for only the most intrepid of theatregoers. A number of brave souls have already attended the first few readings - are you brave enough to join their ranks?

What happens when a man with two lovers must choose only one? What's it like to battle addiction in its many forms? How do you handle it when your greatest secret threatens to be exposed? Where do you draw the line between emotional intimacy and pure carnal desire?

If these provocative issues intrigue you, then Danger: Stay Away! is meant for you. These staged readings are designed to stimulate, provoke, challenge, and most of all, make you walk away from the theater with a broader understanding of the human condition and the contemporary world in which we live. We dare you to come.

The schedule for Danger: Stay AwayI is as follows:

TONIGHT, October 29

A Celebration of Halloween

An original collection of readings and vignettes about Halloween including poetry, Poe, the backs of horror film DVDs, and much more.

November 4

Cock by Mike Bartlett

A man must choose between his longtime boyfriend and his new girlfriend- he ends up torn between the two who are more than willing to fight to keep him theirs.

November 18

The Motherf**ker with the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis

A former drug dealer finds the inadvertently misplaced hat of his girlfriend's lover, threatening his relationship, his parole and his sobriety in an intoxicatingly vulgar look at recovery from addiction.

November 19

The Bus by James Lanz

The secret meeting place of two young boys is threatened in an explosive conflict with the potential to tear a town apart in this touching, suspenseful tale.

November 20

The Eros Trilogy by Nicky Silver

Three short stories connecting four characters: a comically elegant lady deals with real-life grit; her volatile, drug-addicted son creates some real-life grit; and a vitriolic epistolary.

All performances take play at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse located at the corner of Lafayette and Bank Streets in downtown Cape May. All performances begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are pay-what-you-can - you decide how much theatre is worth to you. For more information, call the box office at (609) 770-8311 or visit www.capemaystage.org.

Some plays contain mature content and are not appropriate for all audiences.
