CAT IN THE HAT Comes to Kelsey Theatre 6/2

CAT IN THE HAT Comes to Kelsey Theatre 6/2 ImageFrom the moment his oversized, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that they are in for an adventure like no other. Young audiences will delight in "The Cat in the Hat," to be presented by Theatreworks USA/Two Beans Productions at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre Saturday, June 2 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

It's a rainy day, mom is out, and there's nothing for Sally and her brother to do. All that changes with the arrival of a giant, hyperactive cat intent on having fun! The kids buckle their seatbelts and go along for the ride as the Cat shakes up the house with his signature brand of imaginative play. But when Thing One and Thing Two arrive, the day truly gets out of hand. Sally, her brother, and their disapproving fish realize it's time to get back to normal - before Mother gets home! With the help of the Cat, who returns riding his emergency cleaning machine, all is made right again. The children learn that fun is a good thing, but that normalcy, and even a little boredom, have their place as well.

This musical production of "The Cat in the Hat" is based on the beloved 1957 children's book by magical master of rhyme and word play, Dr. Seuss, otherwise known as Theodor Seuss Geisel. With his quirky, mischievous characters and original writing, Dr. Seuss' stories are classics of children's literature, inspiring stage and movie adaptations worldwide.
