Tony Award-winner Betty Buckley has lined up a number of upcoming concert engagements around the country.
Buckley was previously announced as one of the stars who will perform as part of the 2006-2007 "American Songbook" season. That concert will take place in the Allen Room at Frederick P. Rose Hall on February 10th.
Prior to that, however, she will sing at Reinberger Chamber Hall in Cleveland, OH on October 7th; at the Hampton Arts in Hampton, VA on October 13th; at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA on October 14th; and at the Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL on October 15th. The following months, she will perform in concert (as well as give a Master Class) at the Krannert Center in Champagne Urbana, IL on November 10th and 11th; and at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ on December 2nd.
Buckley has been a top Broadway leading lady for over 3 decades. The actress was seen on Broadway in 1776 and Pippin before winning the 1983 Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony for her performance as Grizabella in Cats. Other Broadway credits include Song and Dance (replacing Bernadette Peters), The Mystery of Edwin Drood, the ill-fated Carrie, Sunset Boulevard and Triumph of Love. She also performed Sunset Boulevard in London, winning an Olivier for her Norma Desmond; she had previously appeared in the West End production of Promises, Promises. Buckley was also featured in William Finn's Elegies: A Song Cycle at Lincoln Center; the performance made it to CD. She recently returned to the role of Norma Desmond for a non-musical reading of the Sunset Boulevard screenplay at the Hollywood Bowl.
