Ben Vereen, well known to audiences for his Tony and Drama Desk winning performance in Pippin, as well as in Wicked, Chicago, Fosse and Jelly's Last Jam, and his celebrated portrayal of Chicken George in "Roots" will be making appearances in New Jersey this week.

Ben is the ultimate survivor and this year marks the 20th anniversary of Ben's near fatal car accident. He spent 7 months at the Kessler Rehabilitation Hospital in Orange, NJ and they taught him to walk, talk, and dance again. Ben has been touring the country, as well as playing a two week engagement in New York, of his new one-man show "Steppin' Out With Ben Vereen."

Two-time Tony Award winner Ben Vereen has been a fixture of American show business for over forty years, on Broadway (Pippin, Fosse, Jesus Christ Superstar), on television (as Chicken George in the classic Roots), and on the big screen (in Fosse's All That Jazz and in his Golden Globe-nominated performance in Funny Lady). He is also a recent inductee to the Theatre Hall of Fame and the winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Museum of Dance.

Rebuilding Lives After Hurricane Sandy: A Benefit for People With Disabilities

The Grove in Cedar Grove, NJ

People with disabilities have been impacted by Superstorm Sandy in many ways, losing their personal items such as wheelchairs and ramps to make their homes accessible to losing access to the help they need because the agencies that support the disability community have also been devastated by the storM. Kessler Foundation is dedicated to changing the lives of people with disabilities and this event will raise money that will directly benefit this community and make a difference.

Tickets are $50 in advance; $60 at the door. Individuals who are unable to attend may donate online.
