Aztec Two-Step to Bring the Simon & Garfunkel Songbook to SOPAC

By:

Aztec Two-Step to Bring the Simon & Garfunkel Songbook to SOPAC ImageAztec Two-Step, the ground-breaking Folk/Rock duo of the 60s and 70s will bring their musical talents to the South Orange Performing Arts Center on Friday, October 27 at 8 p.m., to interpret the classic music of one of the greatest music duos of all time- Simon & Garfunkel.

Says Jessica Pace of American Songwriter, "Aztec Two-Step bring their predecessors' airy harmonies down to earth, but still convey the simplistic beauty of every song in a warbling, sunny style" The duo, comprised of Rex Fowler and Neal Schulman, have helped create the Folk-Rock genre that we know today. They have performed in numerous countries, been critically acclaimed in major U.S. newspapers, reviewed in Rolling Stone Magazine and appeared on numerous radio and TV shows, including The King Biscuit Flour Hour and David Letterman.

Rex and Neal continue to impress audiences today with intelligent songwriting, dazzling acoustic guitar and soaring two-part harmonies. Originating from a chance meeting at an "open mic night" in a Boston Folk club in 1971, Rex and Neal's first four albums on Elektra & RCA Records helped usher the music of the 60s into the 70s and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the musical genre. In 1986, their album Living in America was named in Billboard's year-end critic's poll. It also received the New York Music Award for the Best Folk Album.

They continue to record and tour, winning accolades for their musicianship and commitment to Folk music, both past and present. Their most recent record Naked released in August of this year. It is their first record release since 2012 and their 16th release overall. Aztec Two-Step is one of the longest collaborating duos in the Folk industry, having been recording for over four decades. "Performing groups or songwriting pairs don't often find themselves creatively collaborating after five or even ten years. Rock music has its success stories, such as the Rolling Stones and the writing partnership of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. In folk music, there is Aztec Two-Step." ~ Sarah Cornelius, CT Folk

Aztec Two-Step will bring their legendary partnership, along with the songbook of Simon & Garfunkel to The South Orange Performing Arts Center on Friday, October 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $28-$38. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sopacnow.org/aztec-two-step or by calling the box office at (973) 313-2787.
