Aurway Repertory Theater Presents RED, A New Musical In Concert

Join the cast and writer of Red, A New Musical in an all new immersive way; Aurway Repertory Theater comes with their first 'Musicals In Concert' brought to you by the Historic Arts High School in Newark, NJ on Thursday, October 25th, 2018 at 7pm.

Experience the full score, from top to bottom, including songs that were not a part of our NY Theaterfest run. At this one night only concert get wrapped in the magic of RED through the melodies that take you through our journey.

RED follows a group of teenagers who, brought together by a web of life altering circumstances, try to stop their neighborhood community center from being closed by the new Mayor. Inspired by Brothers Grimm tales, RED takes us on a journey of friendship, bravery, and just how many colors life can bring us.

RED explores a plethora of hard-hitting topics that are relevant and relatable not only on a personal level, but mirrored throughout the makeup of our society. From domestic violence and corruption, to the effects absentee parents and sexual abuse, RED discusses topics that most urban communities experience but rarely speak on..

Red recently presented in the NY Summer Theatre Festival, ending their run with 2 sold out shows. This was writer, Lawrence Dandridge's, second time at the Festival, previously presenting his first musical, Something Like A Fairytale, in 2016.

This concert will be presented at Arts High School, the first visual and performing arts high school in the country, and Dandridge's alma mater. Other recognizable artists to have walked the halls through the decades include Sarah Vaughan, Tisha Campbell, Michael B. Jordan and MJ Rodriguez, along with many cast members of RED.
