Audra McDonald to Headline McCarter's Annual Gala Benefit
By: Julie Musbach

On Saturday, April 28th, McCarter Theatre Center will host its Annual Gala Benefit, which supports McCarter's many ongoing artistic and educational missions in and around the region.
The highlight of the Gala is a feature performance by Broadway legend Audra McDonald, a multi-talented star of Broadway, TV, movies, opera, and the concert stage. Winning a record-breaking sixth Tony Award® in 2015 for portraying Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, McDonald's luminous soprano voice and an incomparable gift for dramatic truth telling has set a new standard in every genre she touches. McCarter's Gala will be co-chaired by Courtney Lederer and Mark Thierfelder of Princeton, NJ; Liza and Sky Morehouse of Hopewell, NJ; and Sonia and Bill Sappington of Skillman, NJ. McCarter's Gala Benefit is one of the most celebrated events of the season and is the largest fundraising event for the theatre. The evening begins with an elegant cocktail reception followed directly by the performance by Audra McDonald in McCarter's 1100-seat Matthews Theatre. After the concert, guests will return to the tent for dinner and live auction, followed by a spectacular after-party with live entertainment, and dancing. Tickets are still available the concert-only portion of the evening, ranging from $81.50 - $106.50.Photo by: Autumn de Wilde
