Kurlander; All Stars Project of NJ Founding Director, Gloria Strickland; Deputy Mayor Margarita Muñiz; Central Ward Councilman Darrin Sharif; Metropolitan Baptist Church Reverend Dr. David Jefferson, Sr.; Merrill Lynch Vice President Robert Ross; PSEG Vice President Derek DiRisio; PricewaterhouseCoopers Partner, Dominick Rizzo; Rutgers Assistant Dean Sharon Stroye and Newark youth will officially open the flagship All Stars Project of NJ Scott Flamm Center for Afterschool Development at a ribbon cutting ceremony at 33 Washington Street, on Thursday, March 14 at 11:00a.m.

Standing before a 14-foot high reproduction of an old-fashioned railway station clock inside the center's entrance, Ms. Kurlander, Ms. Strickland, young people and dignitaries will cut a giant red ribbon to open the custom-designed, state of the art, 9,000 square-foot afterschool center.

Located next door to the Newark Museum and blocks from the Newark Public Library and Rutgers University, the All Stars Center is a sparkling addition to a constellation of cultural and educational institutions in the Downtown Arts District.

The program has been in Newark since 1999, and projects that the new Center will make it possible to involve thousands more young people and their families.

The 32-year-old, trailblazing All Stars Project reaches 10,000 young people annually in New York City, New Jersey, Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area. Through its partnerships with Rutgers and Montclair State University, the Center will be a national hub and creative laboratory for the advancement of performance-based youth development.
