New London Barn Playhouse Presents Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins By Stephen Temperley, running July 12 - 16 at The New London Barn Playhouse, 84 Main Street, New London, NH 03257. Directed by David Edwards++.

Souvenir tells the story of the infamous opera diva Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy New York socialite whose earsplitting singing was matched only by her unconquerable delusions of greatness. The story is told from the perspective of Cosme McMoon, Florence's accompanist in her heyday, as he looks back on his adventures with Ms. Jenkins. Souvenir first premiered on Broadway in 2005, and received a Tony Award nomination for lead actress Judy Kaye's portrayal of Ms. Jenkins.

For Souvenir, the Barn has assembled a team of returning artists and new faces. Director David Edwards++ (Acting: Broadway's By Jeeves, The Rothschilds; Directing: Man of La Mancha and South Pacific at Ivoryton Playhouse) makes his Barn debut directing Souvenir. Barn all-stars Sara Schoch* and Raymond Sage* return to play Jenkins and McMoon, respectively. Schoch and Sage have played opposite each other on the Barn stage in both Ragtime (2012), for which both Schoch and Sage received New Hampshire Theatre Awards, and Damn Yankees (2014). Ms. Schoch appeared in last season's How to Succeed... and Crazy for You, and is Director of Musical Theatre at the University of West Florida. Mr. Sage performed on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast and is on the faculty of Penn State School of Theatre.

Souvenir runs for one week only, Wednesday through Sunday (July 12 - 16). Evening performances are at 7:30 Wednesday through Saturday and 5:00 pm on Sunday. Wednesday matinees are at 2:00 pm, with an additional Friday matinee on July 7. Tickets range from $19.50-$40.00, with Student Rush tickets available for $18.00. Please call 603-526-6710 or visit us at www.nlbarn.org to purchase seats.

The New London Barn Playhouse is one of the oldest continuously operating summer theaters in the country. Housed in an historic converted barn, the Barn has received countless accolades. Tickets at www.nlbarn.org or by phone at 603-526-6710.
