Jaffrey's River Street Theatre will screen the original A Star is Born this Thursday night, November 15 at 7pm. Released in 1937, the original A Star is Born features Janet Gaynor and Frederic March. It received seven Academy Award nominations. The film is also certified 100% FRESH by the film criticism website, RottenTomatoes.com.

The film about an aspiring star being helped by a fading star has been remade three times with the most recent version being released last month that stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. It was first remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand. Each remake has had a very successful box office.

The River Street Theatre will be screening a restored version of the original A Star is Born that is now in ultra high definition as well as its original Technicolor format. A Star is Born is one of the earliest feature-length sound films to be shot in color. The film received an honorary Academy Award for its color photography.

Tickets for A Star is Born are $5.00, and advance purchases are recommended.
