Newington Town Hall Holds MLK Concert, 1/17

By:

The annual "Set The House On Fire" a gospel concert, celebrating Dr Martin Luther King, has a new location for the January 17, 2011 concert! This year's concert will be held at the Asia Restaurant - in the Function Hall, 347 Shattuck Way, exit 4 off the Spaulding Turnpike, Newington, NH

Seacoast artist, Sandi Clark produced the first concert on February 7, 1999 four months prior to the NH Bill (June 7, 1999) that addEd Martin Luther King Jr to what was known as Civil Rights Day. Over the past 12 years, Sandi has brought some incredible talent to the area and this year will be no different.  Come out, no matter what the weather and celebrate the memory of civil rights leader, Rev. DR. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Bringing the heat to the night is headliners' Beyond Blue, of Portland Me. Beyond Blue draws inspiration from rock, funk, jazz, gospel as well as rhythm and blues. This group incorporates their faith along with musical insight that is bound to capture the heart, soul, and mind of any listener. Tales of how hard and how good life can be. Together with their original songs, and bluesy/ rock vibe all we can say is "put on your dancing shoes".

Joining the line-up of performers will be TJ Wheeler, The Funky Divas of Gospel under the direction of Jim White, Nelson Cantave, The "Set The House On Fire" band featuring Marie Goti on vocals, James "Bat" Kaddy on drums, Scip Gallant on the Organ, Rev Jeff Mcllwain on Vocals and Bass, Frank Grynde on Guitar.

Inspirational words of Dr.King's by Fredric Taylor and Kevin Wade Mitchell.
Back because she is the best at whatever she does Mistress of Ceremonies, Jazz/Blues/Gospel singer and comedian, ShaRon Jones Jenkins.

The STHOF Band will provide the "walking in music" for the early birds.
