Play Writing Masterclass With Stuart Spencer is an event in which master playwright and dramaturg, Stuart Spencer , will work individually with eight selected playwrights at the Hatbox Theatre, located at the Steeplegate Mall (by Bon Ton's), Concord, NH. This allday event will run from 9am to 6pm on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Tickets are $30. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.hatboxnh.com .

ABOUT THE MASTERCLASS: On July 28th, New World Theatre's Masterclass Playwright Fellows will present their plays to our visiting master playwright and dramaturg, Stuart Spencer, in an allday masterclass. During the Masterclass, each playwright will have their previously prepared play performed by a group of actors, followed by Mr Spencer's indepth analysis in a oneonone session. Mr. Spencer will also give a talk on the craft of playwriting, in which he will break down his own writing process, and describe how he applies the principles of dramatic structure.

ABOUT THE MASTERCLASS INSTRUCTOR: Stuart Spencer's play Resident Alien was originally produced at the Humana Festival of New Plays, and has had numerous productions in regional theatres across the country. A threeplay anthology (Plays By Stuart Spencer) is published by Broadway Play Publishing. Other plays include Blue Stars (published in the Best American Short Plays of 199394), Painted From Memory (seen at New York Stage & Film in June 2004) and Alabaster City , commissioned by South Coast Rep. His playwriting textbook, The Playwright's Guidebook , was published by Farrar Straus & Giroux in 2002 and has sold over 40,000 copies. Edward Albee described the book as 'indispensable'. Spencer also teaches playwriting and dramaturgy at Sarah Lawrence College, and in private workshops.
