Nancy Saklad & Liz Korabek Emerson Set for New Hampshire Theatre Project's Adult Winter Workshops

By:

New Hampshire Theatre Project is pleased to host two guest artists as part of their Adult Winter Workshop Series. Liz Korabek Emerson will begin the series on Monday, January 13, 2014 with Letting Go of Stage Fright: Mindfulness for Performers. Liz is a director, performer, teacher and practicing Buddhist. She holds an MFA from Ohio University in theater history and performance. She has trained in corporeal mime, clowning and viewpoints. Her current solo show is Ruthlessly Optimistic for No Apparent Reason. In this class, Liz will show students how to give confident, consistent performances using mindfulness with breath as a focus, and will provide specific exercises to uncover negative thought patterns to relieve fears and regain confidence.

Nancy Saklad continues the series on Thursday January 16, 2014 with Acting with the Felt Sense. Nancy is delighted to be returning to teach for NHTP! She is the creator of "Acting with the Felt Sense"-a new technique that forges a deep connection between the actor and the imaginary circumstances of the text while enhancing moment to moment presence and reducing self-consciousness. Nancy's career as a theater educator spans over 3 decades. She currently teaches acting, voice and speech, and directs at the state University of New York at New. In addition, Nancy is the author of Voice and Speech Training in the New Millennium: Conversations with Master Teachers.

Other workshops, taught by NHTP Resident Artists, include Storytelling for the Soul by Genevieve Aichele on January 27, Adult/Teen Improvisation by Robin Fowler on February 3, 10, and 17 (can be taken as individual classes or a series), Posture & Performance: A Pilates Approach to Acting on February 20 and Approaching the Role: Action-Based Acting on February 27, with Heather Glenn Wixson.

NHTP Adult Workshop Intensives are held at the West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth, NH from 6:30-9:00 pm for participants age 16 and up. Workshop fee is $50. For more information contact emailinfo@nhtheatreproject.org or call 603-431-6644, ext. 4.
