By: Aug. 09, 2011

The Tony-Award winning musical "Hairspray" has opened at Seacoast Repertory Theatre (the Rep) and critics and audiences agree that this show is a SMASH HIT!

"Hairspray" has everyone clapping, dancing and bursting with joy as they leave the Rep. It is an amazing high-energy performance with top notch talent that is not-to-be missed!

"Hairspray" blows the roof off Seacoast Repertory Theatre (the Rep) through Aug. 28th.

Set in 1962, the musical is about a big girl from Baltimore with big hair, a big heart and a passion to dance. The story follows this plus-sized dance and fashion trendsetter as she wins a dream spot on a local TV dance program and is transformed overnight from outsider to teen celebrity.

With songs including 1960's-style dance, music and downtown rhythm and blues, "Hairspray" brings on the doo-woop which celebrates soc-hops and teen love in early 1960s Baltimore.

Sponsored by Ameriprise Financial and Liberty Mutual, Show times are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Ticket prices start at $20 and discounts are available to seniors, students and groups of 10 or more.
