David Sedaris Comes to Capitol Center for the Arts This April

By:

David Sedaris, internationally acclaimed New York Times bestselling author and National Public Radio humorist, returns by popular demand to the Capitol Center for the Arts on Tuesday, April 12. With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, Sedaris is one of America's pre-eminent humor writers with more than 7 million copies of his books in print. Visit www.ccanh.com or call 603-225-1111 for tickets or more information.

Sedaris is the author of many titles, including the recent bestseller, "Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls," and other collections of essays such as "Me Talk Pretty One Day," "Barrel Fever" and "Holidays On Ice." Sedaris' pieces appear regularly in The New Yorker and have twice been included in "The Best American Essays." A collection of fables entitled "Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary," with illustrations by Ian Falconer, was published in September 2010 and immediately hit the New York Times bestseller fiction list. There are a total of ten million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into 25 languages. His original radio pieces are often heard on "This American Life" on New Hampshire Public Radio.

He has collaborated with his sister, Amy Sedaris, under the name "The Talent Family" writing six plays which have been produced at La Mama, Lincoln Center and The Drama Department in New York City. These plays include "Stump the Host," "Stitches," "One Woman Shoe" (which received an Obie Award), "Incident at Cobbler's Knob" and "The Book of Liz," which was published in book form by Dramatists Play Service.

Sedaris has been nominated for three Grammy Awards, two for Best Spoken Word Albums, "Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls" and "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim," and another for Best Comedy Album, "David Sedaris: Live at Carnegie Hall." A feature film adaptation of his story "C.O.G." premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. David Sedaris' next book will be a collection of his diaries, entitled Theft By Finding (summer 2017). The great skill with which he slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that Sedaris is a master of satire and one of today's most observant writers addressing the human condition. Performance sponsored by NHPR.

Tickets for this special evening are $45 Gold Cirlce; $42 Orchestra/Mezzanine/Balcony. Tickets can be purchased by calling 603-225-1111, online at www.ccanh.com, and at the box office, located at 44 South Main Street, Concord, NH 03301, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday andFriday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
