EXHIBITION OF THE SELF Comes To Dansmakers Amsterdam Next Month!
Dansmakers Amsterdam is presenting a sensory adventure with EXHIBITION OF THE SELF, running from Sept. 7 to Sept. 15.
In the world we live in, the use of photos, images and how we position ourselves with them has never been so decisive. Increasingly, we are passively and actively exposed as we continually produce photos of our lives, experiences and bodies. We become a brand, a product, a perfect sign of our identity. A spotless life is exhibited which does not have any form of vulnerability to an (imagining) audience.
EXHIBITION OF THE SELF is a visual, sensory and emotional journey of 60 minutes. It investigates our obsessive behavior to use contemporary technology as a means of self-exposure. Performer/choreographer Keren Rosenberg and designer/visual artist Tony Markus Sacharias create a physical and virtual total experience between body, image and performance. They invite the audience to reflect on their own interpretation of identity. Hereby themes such as intimacy, social positioning, vulnerability, fear and confrontation are brought to light.
