I truly believe that if circumstances necessitated the Queen taking a step back from public life and her royal duties, a regency will be established with Charles as Prince Regent before Elizabeth II ever considers abdicating the throne.

No, I don't think "the Queen" (she's not my Queen!) would ever abdicate. It doesn't seem to be in her DNA. Nobody ever thought a Pope would abdicate either, though, so stranger things have happened. If she does pre-decease her eldest son, I could see King Charles hanging on to the monarchy for maybe a few years and then abdicating in favor of William, in the same way that other European monarchs have done.

Queen Elizabeth would never pass the throne to William (can she even do that?) - I'm sure the Royals want William and his family to live as normally as possible for as long as possible before taking on that enormous burden.

Sick, pathetic POS

As long as she has her health and her wits she is sticking around ( and she is MY Queen) It doesn't seem to be in her DNA. Nobody ever thought a Pope would abdicate either, though, so stranger things have happened. If she does pre-decease her eldest son, I could see King Charles hanging on to the monarchy for maybe a few years and then abdicating in favor of William, in the same way that other European monarchs have done.

Queen Elizabeth would never pass the throne to William (can she even do that?) ( NO- is the short answer  primogeniture  rules in this case for the male line though they have recently changed so the female can now be taken as the heir apparent) also  I'm sure the Royals want William and his family to live as normally as possible for as long as possible before taking on that enormous burden.

This is all tabloid nonsense being stirred up by the idea of having a Disney-inspired Prince and Princess take the throne while they're still young and attractive. It's not how it works. HM The Queen doesn't have the power to chose or change the line of succession as it's all decided in Parliament.

I believe people think the Monarchy should be held by someone young because HM The Queen took the throne when she was young and beautiful which reinforced the Disney-inspired idea that people have now. Unfortunately the Monarchy is and always always, bar a few exceptions, just a bunch of old men dying and passing the Crown to another old man. The only time a Monarch is young is, strangely, when a Queen Regent takes the reigns.

U really don't get the  Monarchy(s) and their foibles do you?

william IV of England- At the time of his death William had no surviving legitimate children, but he was survived by eight of the ten illegitimate children he had by the actress Dorthea Jordan, with whom he cohabited for twenty years.

Edward VII-Edward had mistresses throughout his married life. He socialized with actress Lillie Langtry:; Lady Randolph Churchill (born Jennie Jerome, she was the mother of Winston Churchill); Daisy Grenville, Countess of Warwick; actress Sarah Bernhardt; noblewomanLady Susan Vane-Tempestt; singer Hortense Schnider; prostitute Giulia Beneni (known as "La Barucci"Is the queen really passing the throne to Prince William and Kate?; wealthy humanitarian Agnes Keyser; and Alice Keppel. At least fifty-five liaisons are conjectured. How far these relationships went is not always clear. Edward always strove to be discreet, but this did not prevent society gossip or press speculation.] One of Alice Keppel's great-granddaughters,Camilla Parker-Bowles, became the mistress and subsequently wife of Charles, Price of Wales, one of Edward's great-great-grandsons.  Edward never acknowledged any illegitimate children. Queen Alexandra is believed to have been aware of many of his affairs and to have accepted them.

The Duke of Edinburgh-

Sarah Bradford is one of the few biographers to outright claim Philip indulged in extramarital affairs—in her 2011 book Elizabeth II: Her Life in Our Times—while most others, in the careful words of The Telegraph,“dipped into [the subject] with a very long spoon.” During a conversation with fellow biographer Brandreth, Bradford insinuated that she had spoken to women who confirmed romantic relations. She added, “The Duke of Edinburgh has had affairs . . . full-blown affairs and more than one. He has affairs and the queen accepts it. I think she thinks that’s how men are . . . He's never been one for chasing actresses. His interest is quite different. The women he goes for are always younger than him, usually beautiful, and highly aristocratic.”

Diana own mother was married to a much older man she bolted and ran off w an Argentinian Polo player. Lady Spencer knew how the game was played- she just came up w an alternative version of the facts.

You are a piece of work, and so judgmental and misogynist for one on so high a moral plain.

Too bloody right dick-head---oops, morally judgemental, must get down from that gilded throne occasionally and mix with the commoners[kin folk].

Feel a whole lot better--thanks for that.
