Meghan Glogower as Amber in Belmont University Musical Theatre's Hairspray.

It's been an exciting week for actress Meghan Glogower, a graduate of the musical theatre program at Nashville's Belmont University: On Monday night, she joined with her friends and cohorts from the original cast The Nutty Professor - the musical written by Marvin Hamlisch and Rupert Holmes, which premiered in Nashville in 2012 - for its New York City premiere in concert at Birdland. The musical's NYC debut, which has been a long time coming, reconvened the cast and Holmes to pay tribute to Hamlisch's final score for the theater while rekindling dreams and aspirations.

It's just another step in the career of Meghan Glogower, the Florida native who honed her skills during college at Belmont, thus becoming a member of the Nashville theater family. Even with a hectic schedule filled with auditions, classes and rehearsals for Monday night's Birdland gig, she somehow managed to shoehorn time to answer our questions, all focused on the enduring question of Where Are They Now?

Where are you now and what are you doing? I'm currently living in New York City and balancing survival jobs with auditions!

Since leaving Nashville and Belmont, what's been the most memorable adventure you've been on?
Probably my first national tour where I was a Swing on Mamma Mia. I traveled the whole country, Canada, and even had the chance to perform in Colombia. I went to places I never would have dreamed I'd get to go. All while being paid to do it!

What brought you to Nashville/Tennessee in the first place? I was drawn to the nurturing, encouraging environment of Belmont University. I also loved the vibe and culture of Nashville. It was a big step up from my suburban town in Florida.

How did your time in Nashville/Tennessee prepare you for where you are now in your career arc? I would not be where I am now or achieved what I have without my training at Belmont. I received some of the best instruction I could have asked for there. I also feel like Nashville was a great stepping stone in transitioning to a big city like New York.

What's your most vivid memory of your time in the Volunteer State? It would probably have to be during our run of The Nutty Professor, we learned of the passing of Marvin Hamlisch, and we still had a show that night. The energy and love felt from our cast was palpable. I was grateful to the Nashville audiences for going on that journey with us as we tried to honor Marvin in the best way we knew how, by giving his last show life.

Who were some of the people in Nashville/Tennessee who had a lasting impact on your and/or your career? I would not be the performer I am today without the guidance and teachings of Marjorie Halbert. She was not only a wonderful instructor, but such an inspiration for my life during my time at Belmont. She was one of my biggest cheerleaders and gave me the confidence to go into the "real world" after graduation.

What advice would you give to someone taking their first steps to becoming a part of the theater scene here and in NYC? Know that you don't have to conquer the world! Life can get very overwhelming when you are here, but take it one day at a time and remind yourself why you are here. Remember that what you have to give is important, and you are worth more than a just a job or a callback.

And what's coming up next? Besides planning your wedding? Right now, I'm focusing on auditions for this upcoming summer season. I recently joined Actor's Equity Association, so I'm taking advantage of being able to plan out my days a little better. I'm hoping to secure some work for the summer season, but right now focusing on honing my craft and improving my audition skills!
