The Theater Bug Presents THE BAREFOOT CHILDREN IN THE CITY OF WARD

The Theater Bug is proud to present "The Barefoot Children in the City of Ward" an original play by Cori Anne Laemmel. This production will run February 1-4, Thurs-Sat at 7pm and Sun at 4pm; Feb.8-11, Thurs-Sat at 7pm and Sun at 6pm; and Feb.15 & 16 at 7pm. Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults online, or $7 for children and $12 for adults at the door. The show will be performed at The Theater Bug located at 4809 Gallatin Pike in the back building of New Life Baptist Church.

This show will be presented in partnership with Gilda's Club, a Middle Tennessee nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, education and hope to all people impacted by cancer, including family members and friends of those diagnosed. Partial proceeds will go toward supporting Gilda's Club and their mission. The script was created with support from Gilda's Club families who bravely shared their stories and helped educate us about how to best celebrate the children who have battled childhood cancer, and educate our students, staff and audiences about how best to advocate for this community.

The show will feature 65 actors between the ages of 5 and 18 and includes original music by Bethany Bailey and Cori Anne Laemmel. We are also thrilled to have Matt Logan from our partner organization, Studio Tenn, share his vision for set design, along with creative team MA2LA designing original art for projections.

We cannot wait to welcome you to the City of Ward! The city gates are always open, as long as you know the rules! Inside the gates of Ward lies an incredible city made up only of children. The city is beautiful but hides a secret. In reality, it is the children's ward of "Nations Hospital" one of the best pediatric oncology facilities in the world. Join the children as they invite you into the world of their imaginations that will surely make you believe in magic.
