A Lincoln impersonator looking for a really good time, a Middle Eastern immigrant looking to rent a room, World of Warcraft devotees giving their friend an ultimatum, and a sexy co-worker looking for a promotion - those are just a few of the diverse characters to be found among the 12 exciting new plays at The Ten Minute Playhouse.

Set for November 6 and 7 at the Darkhorse Theater, The Ten Minute Playhouse presented by New Works Nashville features a collection of new plays by Middle Tennessee playwrights performed in staged readings by local talent.

Plays and playwrights selected for this edition of The Ten Minute Playhouse are: Danny's Guitar by Brittany Carlton, The Double Penny by Nate Eppler, Brit Brit's Last Day by Heidi Ervin, Psych(o)iatric Lovers by Joe Giordano, Walls by Daniel Hackman, Wireless by Thomas Heine, The Seascape by Margaret Hoffman, A Widow Safe and Secure by Darren V. Michael, NewB by Nicolas Puetz, Call Him 'Gene' by Garret Schneider, Au Revoir by Ritchie Lee Simmons and Chicken Little Complex by Rachael Swann.

"We're thrilled to feature a good mix of returning writers who participated in our inaugural event in May alongside several authors new to The Ten Minute Playhouse," says co-curator Chris Bosen. "Audiences will not be disappointed."

In addition to six new plays each night, two plays from May's readings will be presented in performance. Darren Michael's honkeytonk-set courtship Willie Nelson Ain't Dead will be directed by co-curator Nate Eppler, while Garret Schneider's cavern-set Echoes Always Come Back will be helmed by Tennessee Rep artistic associate Lauren Shouse.

Shouse, the third of the event's co-curators, will moderate audience feedback sessions throughout both evenings.

Volunteer actors and directors interested in participating in the readings are invited to the casting assignment and read-thru session at Noon on Saturday, November 5, at the Darkhorse Theater.

Performances of The Ten Minute Playhouse are November 6 and 7, 2011, at the Darkhorse Theater located at 4610 Charlotte Avenue. All shows start at 7:30, doors open at 7:00. Tickets are $5 at the door. For more information, including playwright bios and a schedule of the plays by performance night, please visit TenMinutePlayhouse.com.
